Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who investigated Trump associates, abruptly steps down

Berman's resignation was not expected, and word of the move caught senior officials in his office off guard. Attorney General William Barr said the president will nominate Jay Clayton to succeed Berman.
